I love this. It somewhat reminds me of the epiphany the young man had with the homeless man in "The Rapture is Already Right In Front of You." The stones are the least expected part of the serene beauty of the landscape you are in, yet it is they who become the catalyst for a creative idea and open your eyes even wider than they already are.
Nature is everything and she is wise. We should all walk humbly alongside her as when we do, great things are learned and created.
Your life story on a sailboat is also fascinating, Deborah. Have you considered writing a memoir?
Thank you, Michael. I hadn't thought of that connection with the Rapture poem, but I see it now. It was so strange how that simple image struck me that way. There are certainly sermons in stones if we open our eyes to see.
I have thought about writing a memoir, and actually blogged a series of posts on WordPress about the journey, how we got started, etc. I may bring some of those over here to Substack in the near future.
Love this piece, and your poem, dear Deborah. It’s so hard to explain that rush of inspiration that happens when a poem or enlightenment drops down on us. May we always recognize those moments💚
