I’m so glad to hear that, Jim. Love the “silly goose” comment too. Often when I’m doing something unintentionally “silly” I’ll call myself that—in an affectionate way.
When it is not affectionate I always had different names for myself. However, I finally learning to treat my self better. Took a long time to learn. I have always the person hardest on myself but that is changing. Now other people are hard me complaining they do not understand what I’m talking about. I have a very bad habit these days with references from math and science, to ancient history and more. I think I’m getting so old that I just blurt how I think which APPARENTLY IS NOT HOW OTHERS THINK. Deborah, I hope you and your husband are doing well. I truly enjoyed your biographical piece.
Yes, learning to treat ourselves better does take a while and sometimes a lot of work. I'm so glad you enjoyed my biographical piece. You never know if people will connect, so it's good to hear. And yes, in some ways we are closer than ever now.
Yes, that painting is one of my favorites. It was my banner on my WP blog Living on the Edge of the Wild for a long time before I exchanged it for one of my own paintings. Thanks for sharing those Grateful Dead lyrics too. I'm sure they were inspired by that old rhyme.
I find your comment about your dreams when sailing very interesting. My wife and I are on the tail end of a three-week road trip in an RV that we rented. We have traveled thousands of miles, and most nights I have had very vivid dreams (including last night)!
Wow, I’m intrigued by the clarity of your dreams, Deborah. Although I’m not seasoned in dream interpretation, it seems to me as though your dream might highlight a tension between outward presentation and inner exposure. It suggests that an individual's true strength and beauty may reside in their unadorned authenticity, rather than in ostentatious show. Such a dream could also reflect a desire for liberation and self-discovery, prompting a deeper understanding of the profound power inherent within. Were you also gifted in your dream with a melody? If so, I’d love to hear it.
Thanks Viktoria. It was unusual for me to remember it as well as i did, but it's like it was still singing in my head when I woke. There was something of a melody but mostly a kind of chanting as I remember. But I really like your thoughts on what it could mean. Especially the part about an unadorned authentic and a profound power inherent within. So glad you shared this. So much to ponder.
Silly goose that I am the sad irony of that song rings very clear in my minds ear.

I love that you connected it to Rousseau’s ‘Dream,’ Deborah!
Your nursery rhyme also makes me think of the Grateful Dead song, ‘Scarlet Begonias.’ It has a set of lyrics that clearly borrow from it:
“She had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes
And I knew, without askin', she was into the blues
She wore scarlet begonias tucked into her curls
I knew right away she was not like other girls”

How interesting! Maybe travel does make our dreams more vivid.
