Yes - our estrangement from nature is a fundamental fissure that has big consequences for each person and society as a whole. Like you, I think we know so little and so much "knowledge" is puffed up homocentric hubris. As I keep harping on about ... it's all about materialism and the deep seeded view we are enculturated in/with - man as machine. Have you read anything of Paul Kingsnorth? He has some interesting things to say - I'm not for his Christianity but all else makes sense. https://paulkingsnorth.substack.com/

Thank, David, I'll check out that link. I haven't read anything by him. Yes, I agree about the materialism. Also the notion of people as consumers rather than as citizens is a notion I dislike.
