Yes, to be in our bodies and with our bodies. With all those triumphs and failures wrapped up in the now. Generations of care for us to be here. Your poem made me come back to myself for a little while.

Thank you, Damian, for sharing your thoughts about this with me. It means a lot to me. Coming home to ourselves, even if only for a while is always a blessing. I'm trying to take this tenderness to every part of my life, especially to those more painful or troublesome parts, and feeling a healing effect when I do so. I'm thinking of that Derek Walcott poem, Love After Love, you may know it, about coming home to ourselves after being gone a long while. This new tenderness takes me home to myself, a place where I want to spend more time.
